Boquete, Panama: A Postcard from Carrie and Jim

Boquete is a small, quaint town not far from the highest point in Panama, Volcan Baru (11,100 ft). Honestly, it's just the right pace for us as a slo-mad location. I really loved that it didn’t feel touristy and that every person greeted us with a smile and friendly “buena” or “buen dia” as we passed by.

We even got to experience our first earthquake while living here.

If you know me, you know my birthday is a big deal to me. Such a big deal that we celebrate birthday MONTH, not just the day, or a weekend. Jim surprised me with a drive along the panoramic route and organized a hot air balloon ride. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate for the hot air balloon ride, but who cares about canceled hot air balloon rides when you have Kruger right next door.

Our time in Malta has come to an end. Five weeks went by fast. I'm sad to leave the sun, cliff views, and constantly feeling like I'm in the middle of a GoT set, but we are excited to head off to safari with my mom and Kel! Plus, I’m ready for a change of scenery. I’m glad we took five weeks to explore the island, but we definitely didn’t need more than that.
